Meet our team
Lee Williams and Sylvia McLean have had career-long interests in animal dermatology. Sylvia hosted and worked alongside Duncan Graham for many years, and has spent time with overseas dermatology specialists. Lee has studied Vet dermatology at Masters level and has worked predominately with skin cases for many years.
Lynda Murphy, a member of the European Society of Veterinary Dermatology joined the team in 2024 after working for 3 years at a Best Pactice Accredited Veterinary Hospital.
The Animal Dermatology Canterbury Veterinary team regularly attended international vet dermatology congresses, conferences and meetings and are members of many special interest groups globally, which keeps them up to date with all the new information and advances in this challenging field.
Lee Williams
Veterinarian BSc BVSc
Lee is a well-known, experienced small animal clinician. She has worked mainly in Christchurch and since 2008 at a best-practice hospital in North Canterbury where her dermatology interest and skills have flourished.
She has 2 sons, a daughter, 2 cats and a crazy Foxy-X. When she is away from the microscope Lee enjoys time with family and friends, theatre, reading, walking and spending time at the Punakaiki bach.
Sylvia McLean
Veterinarian BAgSc BVSc
Sylvia has lived in Canterbury since 1983 and operated a small animal clinic in Christchurch for 26 years.
Her special interest in small animal skin diseases started in the 1980’s. In 1989 she was sponsored to attend the first World Congress of Veterinary Dermatology in Dijon, France.
From 2001 onwards, Sylvia started hosting Duncan Graham’s dermatology referral service at her clinic.
In the past 4 years, Sylvia has further upskilled by attending 20+ training courses, meetings and conferences at post-graduate level. These included the 2016 World Congress of Veterinary Dermatology in Bordeux, France and multiple visits to overseas specialist centers.
Since 2017 Sylvia has been operating Animal Dermatology Canterbury together with Lee Williams. Sylvia also travels to Hamilton about every 4-6 weeks to see patients at The Referral Centre.
In her free time Sylvia enjoys walking her Golden Retriever Hudson, practicing yoga and traveling to exotic places. She also loves spending time with her son Angus and his young family.
Lynda Murphy
Veterinarian BVSc(dist) PGCert SciTech
Lynda is a member of the European Society of Veterinary Dermatology and has recently joined the ADC team after working for the past 3 years at a Best Pactice Accredited Veterinary Hospital.
Her dermatology interest began earlier in her career and was formalised through participation in the PG Certificate Masters Level Study Program through Massey University.
Lynda is currently studying a further PG Cert with a Dermatology Focus through Liverpool University, and is working closely with mentors Lee and Sylvie. She is also attending International Dermatology Congresses to stay at the forefront of the latest dermatology developments.
Kim Anderson
Vet Nurse
In 2008 Kim began her career as a vet nurse, which has been a fulfilling and rewarding experience. Currently, she lives on a lifestyle block, surrounded by numerous adorable fur babies that bring joy to her life.
Kim loves working at ADC, it is the perfect blend of nursing, administrative tasks, and engaging with people and patients on a personal level. Being part of a great team makes her work enjoyable.
During weekends Kim loves hanging out with family, entertaining grandkids and riding horses.
Freya Scanlan
Vet Nurse
Freya began her career as a vet nurse in 2014 after completing her Diploma of Vet Nursing at Otago Polytech. She loves working at ADC to see the amazing improvements to pet's lives and how much happier they become after receiving care.
Freya shares her home with two adorable companions: a cat named Sadie and a lovable Goldendoodle named Noodle.
On weekends she loves spending time at the beach and going on family adventures.
